From construction jobs to the medical field, technology literacy is essential for success. 

Technology illiteracy has been prevalent in the United States public school system from the moment it was used in the classroom. Especially in grade-school, innovation in the classroom is a vital tool for teachers to help improve their students’ test scores, while helping them become proficient in using technology. It is extremely important for students to be exposed to advanced technology early on in their lives so that they can make conscious decisions about their future. Every new computer scientist and engineer needs to start with a solid background in technology, which should happen in grade-school. However, there are many who are concerned about how the use of new products is being portrayed in the classroom and if it is benefiting schools at all. These are concerns that all teachers, students, and parents should share, and hope to improve by making a plan as to how to teach our students effectively, and more importantly how to better educate our teachers.

 

 

 

At this point, you are probably wondering why you should even care about this topic. Well, even if you are not involved in the education system, this topic will have a direct impact on the education of our future engineers, scientists, doctors and leaders. And beyond that, none of us want to live in a world where advanced technology can only be operated by a select few people; we all want to share in the new inventions. If you are even remotely interested in your future or the future of your children, you should care about this topic and the ramifications it can have on our society. To delve into this conversation, I want to answer the question, “How are we going to pay for the education of our teachers in technology?"
